Gully Privacy Policy

Gully ("Company", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users ("User", "you", "your"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Gully mobile application ("App"). Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

This Privacy Policy is published in compliance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) of India.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Profile Information: Display name, profile photo (optional)
• User-Generated Content: Messages, images, and videos you post through the App
• Communications: When you contact our support team

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device identifier, device model, operating system version
• Location Data: Your precise or approximate geographic location (with your permission), used to show nearby content and users
• Usage Data: App interactions, features used, timestamps of activity
• Log Data: Error logs, crash reports, and performance data

2.3 Information from Third Parties

• Push Notification Tokens: Via Firebase Cloud Messaging for delivering notifications
• Analytics: Anonymized usage statistics

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the App's core functionality
• Display location-based content from nearby users
• Send push notifications (with your permission)
• Enforce our Terms of Service and community guidelines
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats
• Respond to your support requests
• Improve the App's performance and user experience

We do NOT use your data for:

• Selling your personal information to third parties
• Targeted advertising based on your content
• Building profiles for marketing purposes

4. Location Data

Location data is central to the App's functionality. We collect location data only with your explicit permission.

You can control the precision of location sharing:

• Exact Location: Your precise coordinates (within ~10 meters)
• Approximate Location: A general area (~1 km radius)
• Hidden: No location shared; nearby features are disabled

You can change your location privacy setting at any time in the App's Account Settings. Location data is used solely to show you content and users near your location. We do not share your precise location with other users — only a general proximity is indicated.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell your personal data.

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

• With Service Providers: Cloud hosting, push notifications (Firebase), and analytics providers who process data on our behalf under contractual obligations
• For Legal Compliance: When required by law, court order, or government authority
• For Safety: To prevent harm, investigate violations, or protect the rights and safety of our users
• With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize sharing

User-generated content (messages, images, videos) is visible to other users within the App based on location proximity. Do not share content you wish to keep private.

6. Data Retention

• User-generated content is retained as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services.
• Account data is retained for a reasonable period after account deletion to comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.
• Anonymized and aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics and improvement purposes.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information, including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure server infrastructure
• Access controls limiting employee access to personal data
• Regular security reviews

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

Under the DPDP Act, 2023 and applicable laws, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
• Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for data processing at any time
• Nominate: Nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

10. Cookies and Tracking

The App does not use cookies. We may use local storage on your device to save your preferences (such as language settings and privacy choices). This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
